Late December Flooding in WNY

In early December Western New York saw more snow than it had in the last two years. The large amount of snow was great news for ski resorts and winter sports enthusiasts. 20131224-061548.jpgUnfortunately for people living along Tonawanda Creek and other WNY creeks the weekend thawing and rain caused substantial flooding throughout northern Erie ad Niagara counties. Downtown Batavia was closed for a period of time due to flooding from Tonawanda Creek and highway officials in North Tonawanda states that they haven't seen water levels this high. I was driving around Route 93 near Akron on December 23rd and witnessed the widespread flooding, 20131224-061416.jpg 20131224-061502.jpg 20131224-061621.jpg 20131224-061634.jpg
